Wednesday, June 10th, 7 pm, Hear Yitz Gittleson, who grew up in Burlington, share with us his time last year in Israel and Palestine. He spent five months in Israel-Palestine volunteering, learning, and praying. As part of the “movement-building platform” and program Achvat Amim (Solidarity of Nations), Yitzi volunteered with farmers and shepherds in the West Bank, studied in a Jerusalem yeshiva, and lived in intentional Jewish community. Now, Yitzi intends to share his experiences in Israel/Palestine with Ruach HaMaqom folks as a means of stimulating conversation around what our relationship, as Vermont Jews, might be with Israel and Palestine. This Zoom hour will involve storytelling, pictures, Israel-Palestine basics, and hopefully, a rich discussion that will continue evolving in our community. Especially during this time of turbulence and uncertainty in the world, it seems important to reflect on who we are and to learn from and listen to the communities with which we are bound up.
