Reverse Tashlich

  • Barge Street Canal Burlington, VT, 05401 United States (map)

On Rosh Hashana, Jews around the world participate in the ancient ritual of Tashlich. We go to a body of water and symbolically cast off the sins of the past year into a body of water to start the new year with purity of heart.
We are adding a new ritual to the Jewish tradition: REVERSE TASHLICH A local clean-up of a body of water on the Sunday between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur!
In the first Burlington REVERSE TASHLICH, we will be cleaning the land near the Pine Street Barge Canal.
Arrive shortly before 2:00, park at Dealer.com, meet at the Barge Canal for a short ritual and then join us for two hours of cleaning litter from the land.
Wear sturdy shoes, long pants and long sleeves to protect from possible poison ivy. Bring gloves and eye protection if you have them.
Children ages 8 and older are welcome! Once you’re home, thoroughly clean your shoes so that you don’t bring contaminants into your home!
