Sharing our Light, Learning from each other. Sunday, April 4th, 7 pm
RhM is pleased to host this series of learning from each other. Our teachers live in our community, and are eager to share with us their wisdom.
This night, we shall hear from Shanna Ratner about her work in creating an equitable economy. She writes:
I will speak about the wealth creation framework for economic development. The wealth creation framework for economic development is a proven set of practices that can change the economy from the ground up and bring about the kinds of changes that those of us interested in a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable economy wish to see. I will discuss the background of the framework and its principles, describe the multiple forms of wealth, and provide an example of how it works.
Shanna Ratner is the founder and (now mostly retired) Principal of Yellow Wood Associates, Inc. a firm specializing in rural economic and community development in the U.S. for over 35 years. She was selected by the Ford Foundation to conceptualize and support implementation of a new framework for economic development that was applied in three of the poorest regions in the country. Her book, Wealth Creation: A New Framework for Rural Economic and Community Development, based on this experience was published by Routledge in 2020 and is available on Amazon or through Flying Pig Books in Shelburne.
