Tisha b’Av: a vessel for sacred despair. Wednesday, July 26th 7 pm at the UU. The moving sidewalk of the Jewish calendar invites us to experience and honor all aspects of being a human being, including the feeling of despair. Traditionally, this date is the anniversary of the destruction of the two Temples. Ironically, it is also the beginning of our preparation for the High Holidays, whose cornerstone is joy. Through the eyes of the text of the book of Lamentations, we’ll do a safe dive into how awful life can be, and discern the seeds of repair and healing. Come chant, study, and move with us.
