Gabrielle Richards grew up in the hills of Vermont (Abenaki territory) before moving to Ottawa, Ontario (Anishinaabe territory). While in Ottawa, Gabrielle had the privilege of working with First Nations communities in climate change and health to support Indigenous stewardship of their lands and immersed in volunteering and social justice initiatives. Having grown up in Kids4Peace, an interfaith youth dialogue movement, she felt called to return and moved to Jerusalem in the summer of 2019. After this meaningful summer, Gabrielle further immersed herself in Jewish community and returned to Ottawa and helped start a JTeen program for Jewish teens to support their learning about, and taking action, on social justice issues. Recently, she completed the 9-month Yahel Social Change Fellowship in Lod where she worked with The Abraham Initiatives and help run community programming. Currently, Gabrielle is pursuing a Master’s in Anthropology with a focus on Jerusalem activism and politics amongst Anglo-Jews. She is also a passionate yogi and certified 200hr Yoga Teacher which she loves sharing in her spare time.
